as a grade IIB heritage building. The
foundation stone of the church was
laid on 29th January, 1911 and the
construction was completed in 1913.
The bell tower of the church still
holds an iconic position in the fast-
changing landscape of the city, visible
to commuters alighting from the train
station and to those passing by on the
flyover. As the building has been an
active church in daily use it was difficult
to secure time to undertake repairs
of the entire building. The condition
of the church prior to restoration was
the result of a number of piecemeal
beautification measures carried out over
the years to provide immediate relief
without addressing the root cause of the
damage. Following a comprehensive
documentation of the entire building
the following main problem areas were
isolated and treated.
